Humans are complex, fallible creatures that often are not aware of their own biases or prejudices.

Recipes for Disasters is a five part collection of poems told through comic form to serve as a practical, honest, and shameless guide to uncovering and understanding our own biases, specifically ones we hold about the current social and political issues in America. This project combines satirical poetry with abrasive, chaotic illustrations and digitized relief prints rooted in a German Expressionist style. My goal in juxtaposing humor and horror is to make serious topics more digestible. The emotional journey I hope to take the viewer on exists as a form of confrontation to help viewers self-reflect and question their own biases. I want my art to exist as social commentary that can enact change and provoke new thoughts. As a Jewish artist, I created this horrific, satirical, and unsettling project with the intention of highlighting America in all of its racist and anti-Semitic glory.
